Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Squado ("Squado", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Squado mobile application and related services (the "Service"). Squado helps adults find people to play sports and be active with.

1. Who we are

The data controller for personal data processed through the Service is CreativeSocially, a sole proprietorship (enkeltmandsvirksomhed) registered in Denmark under CVR no. 45489787 and based in Copenhagen, which operates Squado. You can reach us about privacy at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

• Account information — your email address, and (if you sign in with Apple or Google) the account identifier those providers share with us. You may optionally add a phone number.
• Profile information — your name, date of birth (used to calculate your age and to enforce our minimum-age and age-based event rules), gender (optional), a city you pick from a list of suggestions (used only to show where you are active — we store the name of the city and country, never your street address), a short bio, profile photos, the sports and skill levels you select, languages, the kinds of activities you are open to, and optional links such as an Instagram handle or Strava profile.
• Content you create — events and activities you post (including the meeting point you choose for them), communities you create or join, chat messages, polls, and other content you submit through the Service ("User Content").
• Communications — messages you send to us (for example, support requests) and reports you file about other users or content.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Usage information — activity within the app, such as events you join, chats you participate in, and whose profiles you view. If you are a Squado Plus member, you can see who has viewed your profile; you can turn on incognito browsing so that your own profile views are not recorded.
• Approximate location — if you grant location permission, we use your device location while you use the app to calculate distances to events. If you have nearby event notifications switched on, we also store an approximate area, rounded to about a kilometre, so we can tell you about events near you. We never store your precise coordinates, and we never track your location in the background. See Location and notifications.
• Notification token — if you allow notifications, we store a token identifying your device so that we can send them to you.
• Device and technical information — basic technical data needed to operate the app reliably and securely (for example, connection and error information).

2.3 Information from third parties

• Sign-in providers — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a verified email address and, on first sign-in, your name, to create or link your account. We do not receive your password.
• Subscription status — our payments partner (RevenueCat) and the store you subscribed through (Apple or Google) tell us whether your Squado Plus subscription is active and when it expires. We do not receive your full payment card details.

3. How we use your information

• Create and manage your account and profile.
• Provide the core Service — showing events and people near you, enabling joining, chat, communities, and event hosting.
• Show relevant profiles and events to you and, where you choose, to other users.
• Operate Squado Plus features (for example, who-viewed-you, advanced filters, recurring events) and confirm your subscription status.
• Keep the Service safe — detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, harassment, fraud, and violations of our Terms, including handling reports and blocks.
• Communicate with you — sign-in codes, service notices, and support responses.
• Send you the notifications you have switched on, including chat messages, updates to events you are part of, and new events near you.
• Comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that already took place.

5. How we share information

5.1 With other users

Your profile (name, age, city area, photos, bio, sports, and other profile details you add) is visible to other Squado users so they can decide whether to play with you. When you join or host an event, or join a community, other participants can see that. Messages you send in a chat are visible to the other participants. If you file a report, the reported user is not told who reported them.

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the Service. They process data only on our instructions:

We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe it is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or Squado.

5.4 We do not sell your data

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

6. Location and notifications

Squado uses your device's location only while the app is open. We use it to show you how far away events are, and — if you have nearby event notifications switched on — to store an approximate area so we can tell you about events near you. That area is rounded to about a kilometre, so it does not identify your address. We keep it for 30 days, we delete it when you delete your account or switch the setting off, and we never track your location in the background. The city shown on your profile is one you choose from a list of suggestions; when you type, the text you enter is sent to Google Places to return matching cities. We save only the resulting city and country name, which is display information, not a precise location. You can turn off location permission at any time in your device settings — some distance features will simply be unavailable.

If you host an event, the meeting point you choose is stored as part of that event and is shown to the people who can see the event. That is a place you publish, not a record of where you are.

If you allow notifications, we store a token identifying your device so we can send them. You get notifications about your own events and your messages, and — if you switch it on — about new events near you. You can turn any of this off in the app or in your device settings.

7. Payments and subscriptions

Squado Plus is a paid subscription sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system on iOS and through Google Play's billing system on Android. Whichever store you subscribed through is the merchant of record and processes your payment; we never receive or store your card details. We use RevenueCat to manage your subscription and to tell us whether it is active and when it renews or expires, so we can unlock or lock Plus features. 8. How long we keep data

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and associated personal data, and content tied to your account is removed or disassociated, except where we must keep limited information to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten. The approximate area used for nearby event notifications is kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically, and is deleted immediately if you switch those notifications off.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data erased ("right to be forgotten");
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You can exercise most of these directly in the app (editing your profile, or deleting your account under Settings). For anything else, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.dk).

10. Security

We protect data with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and row-level access controls that restrict each user's access to their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond quickly to any incident.

11. International transfers

Your data is stored in the EU, and our email sending runs in the EU (Ireland). Some of our providers (for example, Apple, Google, RevenueCat, and Vercel) are based in or transfer data to the United States. Where data leaves the EU, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

12. Age requirement

Squado is only for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we will delete the account.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.

15. Cookies and this website

This Privacy Policy also covers squado.co, our website.

The website sets no cookies. Nothing about your visit is stored on or read from your device: no cookies, no local storage, no tracking pixels, and no advertising. Our fonts are served from squado.co itself rather than from a font provider. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, there is nothing for you to consent to under the cookie rules, and you will not see a cookie banner here.

We do count page views. The site runs Vercel Web Analytics. Its script is served from squado.co itself, not from a third-party domain. For each page view it records the address of the page you landed on, the site that referred you there, your approximate location (country, region, and city), your device type, and your browser and operating system. Repeat visits are counted using a hash that Vercel derives from the request itself and discards after 24 hours. That hash is never stored on your device, it is not linked to your Squado account, and it cannot be used to follow you to any other website.

Our host still sees the request. The site is served by Vercel, which processes standard request data, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the pages, to count the visit, and to protect the site from abuse. The page-view records described above are aggregated and are not stored against your IP address. We do not use any of this to build a profile of you, to identify you, or to track you across other sites.

If we ever add a technology that stores information on your device, or that identifies you personally, we will update this section first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
